Posted

Today we would be looking at Hosea 3

In this study, the tools we would use for this study are

  1. Who, What, When, Where, and How tool
  2. What does it mean?
  3. How does it apply to me today?

So let’s dig in and turn the bible to Hosea 3

Who, What, When, Where, and How tool

God told the prophet Hosea to go get back his wife, who had left to chase after other men. She had been an adulterer and a prostitute.

Hosea was to  show love to his adulterous wife as God showed His love to the nation of Israel

God goes after the Israel nation, forgives, accepts and shows compassion to her.

What does (this passage ) mean?

Hosea purchased back his wife from the life of prostitution.  Rehabilitated her and reconciled her back to himself.

Hosea showed his wife forgiveness, forbearance. He had to let go of his right to be angry and to choose forgiveness

This is the same path Israel would follow to  be reconciled back to God. Israel had prostituted herself by worship and sacrificing to different idols.

Then Israel comes back to her senses, repents and seeks the Lord trembling. After the Israelites had live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods.

God’s covenant of Grace, God is willing to enter, means people must accept the punishment of their sin, and must not return to it.

How does it apply to me today?

Sin and continuous yielding to sin, in the Bible is called a “slave to sin”. The only way God has provided for us to no longer be slaves to sin, is to repent. The word repent, is to turn away from our old ways and turn to God’s provision for salvation. Which is in Christ Jesus.

One must first recognise one is a sinner, then come to God for forgiveness for all the wrong doings. Then accepted Jesus as Lord and saviour. This is to believe and accept the sacrifice of Jesus shedding His blood on the cross . Then begin a new life in Christ by living each day according to the word of God – The Holy Bible.

God  has made the way of salvation clear, the ball is in our court. Am I or are you going to accept God’s way of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ?
