Jonah pretty much gave up on himself, hence the “throw me over board” response, even though the merchants already lost their merchandise. Unlike the fearful, selfish Jonah, who didn’t want the people of Nineveh to share in his inheritance, God’s grace is sufficient for all. There is no depth or hight He can’t reach. He is the only one who can sort out the wife, concubine and husband without mixing things up. He is God like that.
